Quem Matou Pixote? (original title)
Fernando Ramos da Silva was a poor boy who lived with his mother and brothers on the outskirts of Sao Paulo. At the age of 11, he could barely read and write, and would help his mother selling lottery tickets in the streets. Then an event changed his life: Hector Babenco chose him, among 1,300 other candidates, to play the lead in his film Pixote. The film went around the world winning prizes and honors, and Fernando became an overnight star. Now he had enough money to support his entire family. Offers rained on him for films and soap operas. It was a Cinderella story.
With such an auspicious debut, a great career for Ramos da Silva seemed inevitable. Unfortunately, fate and the rigidity of Brazil's social stratus had other, more tragic plans. This biopic tells his sorrowful tale and follows the grim sequence of events that led to his brutal, controversial murder by the police.
